Mike Tyson to Print Drinkable Cannabis

When professional boxer Mike Tyson isn’t battling sharks, he’s working to revolutionize the world of cannabis as we know it.

The Ranch Companies, which is a licensing and branding company created by Tyson, obtained a global license to print cannabis products.

Tyson is collaborating with Smart Cups, which is a beverage manufacturing company who managed to create the world’s first printed beverage.

“For The Ranch Companies, it is very exciting to be working with Smart Cups’ technology, because it gives us the opportunity to make anything that is possible with this innovative tech,” Tyson said in an interview with Forbes

The Future of Cannabis Beverages?

Driven by sustainability, Smart Cups have the ability to potentially change the way we drink.

With almost futuristic technology, the company uses micro-encapsulation printing to print its vegan products onto a bioplastic cup that only requires the addition of water to drink.

According to its website, they come in a variety of flavors including Berry Blast, Tropical Punch, Raspberry Lemonade, and more.

“Smart Cups, as a company, embodies all the things that actually make this country so special.

It’s the drive to do something different. It’s the spirit of revolution,” said Smart Cups on its website.

By partnering with The Ranch Companies, Smart Cups will shift gears to use water soluble cannabinoids and are able to print them virtually on any surface.

Chris Kanik, the founder and CEO of Smart Cups explained to Forbes that, “the printed actives and flavors are released when they come in contact with a liquid (i.e. water, soda, or saliva).”

Solving the Dosing Dilemma

Due to the fact that each individual cup contains a precise dosage, this reduces the chance of over- or under-dosing yourself.

Rob Hickman, CEO of The Ranch Companies, shared with Forbes how dosing has been “one of the systematic issues plaguing this industry.”

“We have partnered with top research universities to collect critical clinical data supporting CBD for medicinal purposes and pain relief.

The Smart Cups Technology is a new delivery system which we believe will set new standards in this industry,” said Hickman.

Tyson’s support of a product that values health and sustainability isn’t all too surprising if you’ve been keeping up to date with his booming cannabis empire.

He’s been outspoken about how cannabis changed him for the better.

Tyson spoke to us in a 2018 interview, revealing that his inspiration for starting a cannabis-related business was helping people by changing the stigma around cannabis.

“Cannabis is the future, and eventually, everyone is going to have to give in,” said Tyson.
