“It was crazy or genius, you never know,” shared Jason Gann during day one of the Winter Emerge 2020 Virtual Cannabis Conference & Expo.

Though he was talking about the creation of Wilfred Cannabis, the sentiment also applies to the birth of the Emerge conference. Launching a new event in 2020 was a high-risk venture, but with risk often comes reward.

The first day definitely seemed like a reward for months of hard work from the Cannabis & Tech Today team and the Emerge sponsors. Attendees poured into the exhibit halls for a packed day of learning and networking.

Sessions and Speakers

The Investor Pitch Contest was an edge-of-your-seat experience, with four eager entrepreneurs laying their hearts on the line for high-profile investor judges.

One of the judges, Managing Director and Partner for Entourage Effect Capital Codie Sanchez, asked particularly pointed questions of entrepreneurs.

Her no-nonsense style helped contestants refine their pitch and gave investors even more insight into the companies profiled. Of the four startups competing, only one emerged victorious.

To find out who was entered into an investment fund pool of up to $5 million dollars, you’ll have to sign up for 90-days of post-show access to the event, where all the sessions can be viewed on demand.

Keynote speaker David Crosby provided a powerful interview with Cannabis & Tech Today Managing Editor Patricia Miller.

In typical Crosby style, he laid out his opinions with little filter, giving fans and attendees a genuine glimpse into the world of the Mighty Croz. With 50 years of cannabis experience, Crosby shared tips for consumers and retailers alike, touching on all of the conference’s major themes.

Community and Connection

Speaking of which, marketing, sales, and wellness were the focal points of Winter Emerge 2020.

The themes brought together a diverse assortment of speakers touching on topics ranging from “Breaking the Poly-Pharma Cycle,” to “ Partnering with Influencers,” to “Cannabis in Pet Wellness.”

The former was a particularly popular session, with panelists sharing their insights and a peek at their furry friends, much to the delight of attendees.

While the themes changed since the first event, several aspects of Winter Emerge 2020 stayed the same.

Hyperfair still provided an immersive, engaging virtual experience for attendees, and the sense of community established during the first event was stronger than ever.

Influencers found new places to gather for a virtual smoke sesh, cloistering under stairwells or scrambling onto rooftops to grab a quick screenshot and take a toke.

If you missed day one, there’s still time to catch a fireside chat with Berner and Run the Jewels on day two… Not to mention Snoop Dogg’s Lifetime Achievement Award on day three.

Treat yourself to sponsor giveaways, fresh celebrity insights, and a chance to truly connect with the cannabis community during the final days of the Winter Emerge 2020 Virtual Cannabis Conference & Expo.
