Cannabis sales in the U.S. are expected to reach $32 billion this year, according to data analysts at FlowHub. The international market will be much larger, particularly when Germany legalizes recreational use later this year. It’s expected to be the largest adult-use market in Europe. To help the country celebrate the changing tide, the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) is holding one of its events in Berlin this year.
ICBC Berlin will host 5,000 attendees from more than 80 countries. The event takes place at the Estrel Berlin Hotel, offering 7000 square meters of Expo Space.
The speaker lineup features some of the industry’s most respected leaders, including Head of the European Cannabis Group Peter Homberg, German Drug Commissioner Burkhard Blienert, Conference Master of Ceremonies Ngaio Bealum, Weedmaps VP of Public Affairs Bridget Hennessey, Chief Strategy Officer of Metrc Lewis Koski, and many more.
Educational Sessions
What’s on the schedule for education? Keynote speaker Commissioner Burkhard Blienert will discuss the latest news in Germany’s push toward nationwide cannabis legalization. The presentation will explore the company’s approach to creating and enacting the most robust and complex cannabis policy and industry infrastructure on the globe.
Lewis Koski, chief strategy officer for Metrc, is keynoting day two to discuss track and track for the cannabis supply chain. Lewis will cover the lessons he’s learned in the U.S. cannabis market and what Germany can expect when implementing its emerging marketplace.
For those interested in the science emerging from the global cannabis scene, the Cannabis in Biotechnology panel will offer insights into cannabinoids and their role in the biotech of the future.
Hemp will be a central focus of the panels as well. Senior Policy Advisor for the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) Francesco Mirizzi will present with Lorenza Romanese, managing director for the EIHA. They’ll cover anticipated regulatory changes for the industrial hemp market and what the future holds for Europe’s hemp sector.
Legacy cannabis operators will also have a seat at the table. The Legacy Cannabis in Europe panel will cover which areas of the legacy markets can be transferred to the legal industry and how key players with stay active as regulations change.
After Parties and Special Events
There’s so much more to a successful conference than what takes place on the expo floor. ICBC is hosting a special after-party on July 19th starting a 21:00. The gathering features special guest and reggae sensation Morgan Heritage with Rocker T.
Don’t mis the Berliner Volksfestsommer, the city’s largest folk festival featuring amusement rides, live music, and culinary delicacies. It’s happening all month long so swing by and take in the culture.
