As the cannabis and hemp industries continue to thrive, many influential voices are stressing the need to initiate serious change when it comes to sustainability.
The cannabis plant has the potential to change the world, but only if it’s grown and distributed responsibly. At the Emerge Virtual Cannabis Conference, Founder of Knot Plastic Ry Russel stated “there is a ripple effect to our existence. We need to be conscious of this ripple effect and strive to do better.”
Some companies are stepping up to hold the industry accountable.
Regennabis, a sustainability advisory platform, is creating a better future for the cannabis industry by helping businesses align with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company created Regenerative Cannabis Live! — a virtual event that took place June 29-30.
The two-day event attracted more than 1,000 attendees to discover insights from 20+ expert panelists discussing sustainable developments in the cannabis and hemp industries.
Topics focused on economic, social, and environmental (ESG) strategies.
Speakers included Steve DeAngelo and Natalie Papillion from Last Prisoner Project, Curaleaf’s VP of Corporate Social Responsibility Khadijah Tribble, and Bestselling Author Doug Fine, just to name a few.
“We are thrilled to bring this event to the industry and shed light on these very necessary topics. There is a tremendous opportunity to lead ESG and sustainability objectives through cannabis and hemp,” said Patrick McCartan, CEO of Regennabis.
Sessions topics included: “Restorative Justice,” “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” “Sustainable Packaging,” and “ESG.”
There was even a discussion from two prominent politicians, Colombian Presidential nominee Senator Juan Manuel Galán and Mexican Senator Alejandro Armenta.
